Independent Commercial Advisor · New Zealand

Better commercial decisions. Lasting business value.

Drawing on more than 20 years of practical commercial leadership, I help organisations strengthen procurement, negotiate better outcomes, build productive supplier relationships and embed sustainable business practices.

Focus Areas

Strong commercial performance is built on good decisions. Well-designed commercial processes, effective procurement, disciplined negotiation and trusted supplier relationships all contribute to better business outcomes.

When these foundations are embedded across an organisation, the benefits extend well beyond individual contracts. Better commercial decisions reduce risk, improve profitability and create long-term value.

Having spent my career leading commercial and procurement functions within organisations, I understand the practical realities of balancing commercial performance, operational requirements and stakeholder expectations. My role is to provide independent advice that is practical, collaborative and focused on achieving measurable results.

03

04

Sustainability & Responsible Business

Helping organisations integrate sustainability into commercial decision-making, procurement and contracting in ways that are practical, measurable and aligned with business objectives.

Approach

Every organisation faces different challenges, but successful commercial decisions are built on the same foundations: understanding the objectives, managing risk, building trusted relationships and taking a long-term view.

I work alongside clients to provide an independent perspective, practical experience and support that can be implemented with confidence. My focus is not simply delivering recommendations, but helping organisations achieve outcomes that are commercially sound and sustainable.

International experience, practical local perspective

About

About Me

I'm Erik Kraayenhof, founder of Innovek Consulting.

Over the past 20 years I've held senior commercial and procurement leadership roles, leading sourcing initiatives, negotiating major contracts, improving commercial processes and helping organisations build stronger supplier relationships while delivering better business outcomes.

Unlike many consultants, I've spent most of my career inside organisations, making commercial decisions and being accountable for the results. That experience gives me a practical understanding of the challenges businesses face and shapes an approach that is collaborative, pragmatic and focused on delivering lasting value.

Sustainability has become an increasingly important part of my work. I believe it should be integrated into everyday commercial decision-making, strengthening both organisational performance and long-term resilience rather than being treated as a separate initiative.

Outside work you'll usually find me hiking, mountain biking or exploring New Zealand's outdoors. Those experiences have reinforced the importance of preparation, adaptability and keeping the bigger picture in mind, qualities that are equally valuable in commercial decision-making.
